Snow Leopard: Beyond The Myth The snow leopard is one of the rarest and most beautiful of all the big cats, thought to be totally unfilmable - until now. Snow Leopard: Beyond The Myth visits a hidden lair and offers some startling images of this elusive predator. A secret cave deep within the mountains of Pakistan is one of its last refuges. During the harsh winter seasons, snow forces both predator and prey to the lower reaches of the valleys where the film follows their hunting, feeding and mating behaviours, and also follows the other animals they share the area with the wolves, golden eagles and the markhor. The search for the leopards through summer reveals the realm of the snow leopard - the stunning high altitude pastures carpeted in wild flowers. The expedition is set in the remote desert mountains of the Dhofar region of Oman, where participants will get the chance to work alongside scientists from the Royal Omani Court, be part of a small international team and monitor Arabian leopard presence through the search for tracks, scratch marks, the setting of camera traps and through engaging with the locals about any leopard sightings. “All you have to do is turn up to a minicasting session in one of four Snowgum stores around the country in May and tell us for two minutes in front of a camera who you are, why we should take you on and what you think you can contribute,” says Dr Matthias Hammer, founder of Biosphere Expeditions.
